What does the military position "Pat." stand for?
During the American revolution, the Spanish declared war on America in 1779 and the governor of Louisiana brought many of the French inhabitants to fight the British in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Mobile in what is now known as the Galvez expedition. An ancestor of mine, Alponse Perret II was an officer or some kind of soldier in it. I have found a military record that says "Pat. Alphonse Perret, LA". What does Pat. mean? The guy above him has Lt. Col. (Lieutanent Colonel) and the guy below him is Pvt (Private) so I'm almost positive it's a rank. I tried googling it and got nothing. Anybody know?
