What was the outcome of the civil war?
The civil war created a sense of unification never seen before. Prior to the War people referred to the US as "The United States ARE" as in various states agreeing on something, whereas after the war that sentiment change to the "United States IS". This made it clear people accepted the US as one solid nation represented by a Constitution. The Civil War also accelerated inventions and the creation of technology. Another thing that I happen to think is important is that after the War, Pres. Lincoln is remembered as having been the first Pres in history to fight and establish policies with the intent of keeping the states united. And following the war, there was such a hailing of war hero that five Presidents after the war were veterans.
