Ford explorer 3rd brake light?

how do you remove the 3rd brake light in a 97 ford explorer..i don't want to remove the trim because it will loose the adhesive an not stick back on and it would be a pain in the ***. there are 2 rivets i do see as well. can i just drill them out, the the light fixture should come out, then replace the rivets..please i need the easy way as possible. thanks.
