Can I whistleblow about time card alterations and be compensated for it?
I am employed at a huge corporation (200k+employees) and was recently demoted and transferred because I knew that my boss was falsifying time cards so that it showed employees were not getting a OT for lunch violations. I was an istant mgr and he was a manager. After the fact I found out that he also shaved minutes off peoples time cards to save payroll to meet the companies very strict operating ratio. Well, now that I am at a new location the same exact things are going on here and I am 100% positive that this is happening at every location and there are over 200 locations in California alone and 3000 nation wide. I believe this is happening because corporate puts so much pressure on managers for payroll limits and a "no OT" policy and tie the managers bonus to OT paid out through the year. I have amed paper Evidence of all the alterations since the computer retains all the punches the employee makes and then everything the managers change as well. I am looking for compensation because if I stick my head out under the knife, my future with the company will likely come to an end in some form or another and I am the sole supporter of my family. Disclaimer; my clocking have not been altered. I only have the knowledge and proof that this is happening at multiple locations and more than likely company wide. Any thoughts are welcomed if any.
