The sims 2 Question..?

I just installed it cuz i wanna mess around and i know this is a nubish question but how exactly do you create walls and floors and stuff! ive tried draggin clicking, hold control and click and dragging, holdin shift i think ive tried everything!!! WTF?! help please lol tell me exact ons please
