What do I do about a toothpick splinter in my gums?

I used a toothpick in my top teeth a few weeks ago. Since then, I've noticed a cut or abrasion when I run my tongue over that spot, and I get a toothbrush full of blood every time I brush. What can I do to fix this and who can help me?
